Eid Al Adha falls on Wednesday 27 May 2026 in Morocco, with the national public holiday expected to run through Thursday 29 May. For visitors in or travelling to Taghazout during this period, there are a few practical things worth knowing in advance.

Morocco’s Road Safety Authority (NARSA) issued an advisory urging all drivers to exercise heightened caution over the Eid Al Adha period. The movement of millions of Moroccans returning home to celebrate with family put sustained pressure on the main national routes.

The N8 highway connecting Agadir and Marrakech — the standard road for visitors arriving in the region by bus or private transfer — saw heavier traffic from the afternoon of 26 May through the full day of 27 May, and again as return travel picked up from 29 May. Road transfers took longer than usual, and taxis on the roughly 20-minute stretch between Agadir and Taghazout were harder to find around midday on the 27th. Eid Al Adha 2027 dates will be confirmed closer to the time — the same practical considerations apply.

Businesses and local services

Taghazout’s international-facing surf camps and guesthouses are generally well-practised at staying operational through Moroccan public holidays. Most will continue running surf lessons, yoga sessions, and meal service without significant interruption.

However, locally owned restaurants, small shops, and the market in the village may operate on reduced hours or close entirely for the main day of prayer on 27 May. Stocking up on food and supplies on the evening of 26 May is sensible — both from the shops in Taghazout village and from the larger supermarkets in Agadir before making the journey north.

What remains unaffected

The surf does not take a holiday. May conditions at Taghazout and the better-known breaks along this stretch of the Atlantic coast — including Anchor Point and Killers — are typically reliable for solid swells with lighter wind than the winter months. Ocean conditions around Eid Al Adha 2026 are forecast to remain surfable for intermediate and experienced riders.
