Air Transat Opens First North America–Agadir Route

Air Transat operated its inaugural flight between Montreal (YUL) and Agadir (AGA) on Friday 12 June 2026, making it the only airline in the world to offer a nonstop connection from North America directly into southern Morocco.

The seasonal service runs every Friday until 23 October 2026. Flight TS492 is operated with the Airbus A321LR configured in both Economy and Club Class, with a scheduled flight time of approximately nine hours westbound. The route makes Agadir Air Transat’s second Moroccan destination from Montreal, alongside the existing Marrakech service.

For travellers based in Canada — particularly the Moroccan diaspora community in Montréal and Toronto — the route removes the need to connect through European hubs to reach the Atlantic Coast. This is a meaningful improvement: previously, flying from Canada to Agadir required at least one stop, typically in Casablanca, Paris or London, adding several hours to the journey.

Taghazout village sits 25 kilometres north of Agadir airport, a 30-minute drive up the coast road. For surfers, yoga practitioners and digital nomads who make up a large share of Taghazout’s visitor base, landing at Agadir is the standard arrival point. The new Air Transat frequency means that North American visitors can now fly weekly rather than working around less convenient routing.

The launch was celebrated jointly by Air Transat and Morocco’s National Tourism Office (ONMT), which has been pushing to diversify Agadir’s source markets beyond its traditional European base. The Atlantic Coast region has emerged as one of Morocco’s fastest-growing tourism zones in 2026.
