Anchor Point surf break at Taghazout, Morocco

The WSL Junior Pro Taghazout Bay is confirmed for 11–15 November 2026, making it the final junior event of the season for both the European and African regions. The competition runs at Anza Beach, south of Agadir, with points counting toward regional junior rankings for surfers from both circuits.

What to Expect

The event draws under-18 competitive surfers from across Europe and Africa, with heat formats decided daily based on swell. Anchor Point, Hash Point and the beaches around Taghazout Bay all receive the same North Atlantic groundswells that power the contest, meaning conditions during the event window are typically among the best of the early winter season.

The 2025 edition, the inaugural running, was won by Spanish junior talents Hans Odriozola and Maria Salgado. The 2026 edition is expected to attract a similar field of top-ranked European and African juniors chasing year-end ranking points.

Planning Around the Event

If you are travelling to Taghazout in early to mid-November, the competition is worth timing your trip around. Free to watch from the beach, the event brings an energetic atmosphere to the area and often coincides with the first proper swells of the winter season arriving at Anchor Point.

Surf camp bookings typically increase during competition weeks, so secure your accommodation early. Our guide to the best surf camps in Taghazout covers options across price points, from budget guesthouses to full coaching packages.

November is one of the stronger months of the year for surf in this area. Water temperature sits at around 20°C, making a 3/2mm wetsuit comfortable for most sessions. Those arriving to learn to surf will find consistent beach breaks at Panoramas and Hash Point alongside the more powerful reef setups used in competition.
