New Year’s Eve in Taghazout is a relaxed, surf-village celebration rather than a nightclub one. We expect 14-19°C by day, 9-12°C after dark and 18°C water going into 2027, and a crowd that peaks between 28 December and 3 January. There is no municipal fireworks display in the village that we could confirm for 2026, so the night revolves around dinners, rooftops and beach fires. If you want more noise, Agadir is 25-35 minutes away.
This page covers 31 December 2026 into 1 January 2027. For the week before, see Christmas in Taghazout, and for the following month, our January guide.
What Is Actually Happening: Venues and Events
We could not verify 2026 programmes at most venues, because they usually publish them in late November. These are the formats we know recur, and who to ask.
Surf camp parties. Most camps in Taghazout and Tamraght hold a New Year dinner for guests, often with a DJ or live drummers on the roof. Surf Maroc and Surf Berbere both run December group weeks (see our surf camps guide); ask whether the 31 December dinner is included or an add-on of approximately 25-45 euros.
Hotel gala dinners in Agadir. Beach hotels along Boulevard Mohammed V run set menus with live music and a midnight toast. One Agadir hotel, the Allegro Agadir, has listed a New Year’s Eve gala at 45 euros per adult and 22.50 euros per child under 11, though the listing was undated, so confirm for 2026. Our Agadir where-to-stay guide covers the seafront zone.
Taghazout Bay resorts. The Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay and Hilton Taghazout Bay Beach Resort typically offer festive dinners. Expect approximately 60-120 euros per adult for a gala with a drinks package, as of 2026, and book by early December.
Berber-tent dinner shows. Desert-style evenings with transfers are sold out of Agadir. One Expedia listing priced a New Year’s Eve dinner under a tent with music and hotel transfers at approximately 94 US dollars per adult. Check the current operator and date before paying.
Village cafes and rooftops. Cafes such as Panorama Cafe and the rooftop spots listed in our nightlife guide fill with surfers for an early dinner and then a quiet beach walk. Do not expect a fixed programme.

Transport on the Night
- Within Taghazout and Tamraght: walk. The road is lit and busy, and the distance between the main spots is short.
- To Agadir: grands taxis run late but quote higher fares after 10pm. Agree the price first, and expect to pay approximately MAD 150-250 each way. Our getting around guide explains taxi etiquette.
- Coming back: the hardest leg, with queues from 1am. Pre-book a driver for a fixed time or stay near the venue. Book a private transfer for arrival days at least.
- Do not self-drive after dinner: police checkpoints on the coastal road are common over the holidays.
Arrivals into Agadir Al Massira airport peak on 28-30 December, so use our airport to Taghazout guide before you land.
Where to Stay for New Year
Book as early as possible. Rooms across the coast sell out from mid-November for 30 December to 2 January.
- Taghazout village guesthouses: Auberge Taghazout costs approximately MAD 900-1,400 per night in this window. Good for being on foot.
- Tamraght: Le Riad Tamraght is approximately 10-15% cheaper and quieter. See Tamraght accommodation.
- Resorts: Hyatt Place and Hilton at Taghazout Bay, from approximately MAD 1,800-2,800 per night around 31 December.
- Essaouira alternative: if you want a medina New Year, La Maison des Artistes is a verified option, and our Essaouira guide explains the three-hour drive.
You can also search all Taghazout hotels for free-cancellation rates.
Surf, Weather and Packing
Swell is typically 2-4m from the NW, with Anchor Point and Hash Point at their busiest. Morning offshore winds from 7am to 11am give the best conditions, and the lineup is at its most crowded on 1 January. Pack a 4/3mm wetsuit, a fleece and a windproof jacket, plus something smart for dinner. See the packing list.
A Quieter Option
If a big night is not the goal, spend 31 December on a Paradise Valley day trip, have an early dinner and be on the beach for the first sets of 2027. For official visitor details, see the Morocco National Tourist Office. Our winter sun guide compares this week with the rest of the season.
A Practical Plan for 31 December
Treat the day in three blocks. Surf or take a lesson in the morning, when offshore winds from 7am to 11am give the cleanest waves and the lineup is still manageable. Spend the afternoon on a hammam, a coastal walk to the sunset spots in our sunset guide, or a slow lunch of grilled fish. Eat dinner early if you are not attending a gala, because kitchens in the village slow down badly once every table is full.
Carry cash. ATMs in Taghazout run low around 30 December and the machines in Aourir and Agadir are better stocked, so read our ATM guide. Tell your accommodation what time you will return, because many guesthouses lock the street door late at night. Keep a taxi number saved, and keep small notes for the driver.
Booking Deadlines at a Glance
- Flights: book by mid-October for 28-30 December departures. Fares for returns on 2-4 January are the most expensive of the season.
- Camps and guesthouses: book now. Most sell out from mid-November.
- Gala dinners: reserve by early December, and ask whether drinks are included.
- Transfers and car hire: book a week before, since 28-30 December is the busiest arrival window. You can hire a car if you want freedom, but we advise a driver for the night itself.
